South Jacksonville held a brief veteran's memorial service today, the tenth anniversary of the horrific events of 9/11. With several uniformed veterans in attendance, there were prayers, a brief speech of remembrance by a two-time Afghanistan vet, rifle volleys fired. Its great for local people to do something like this, not just rely on watching the national memorial events.

Concert in the Cornfield 2011
Unbelievable! That's the best description for this year's Concert in the Cornfield. I went to the concert grounds around 4:30 to take pictures and left around 7:30. I was told over 7800 tickets had been sold by 7:00 and when I left I estimate there were up to 1000 people in line waiting to purchase tickets.
The volunteers that put together this event did a superb job. The sheer volume of people may have caused a few glitches but they were only minor. The vendors were great, music was great and it looked like everyone was having a fun time.
Here's some pictures from the concert grounds and a few of Glorianna, the opening act for Luke Bryan.
